Based outside of Clinton, NJ, Independent Solar has designed, installed and financed over 100 solar PV projects since founded in 2009. Independent Solar stands out in a number of ways:

We are one of only a handful of true NJ installers who offer a solar lease program. While other companies offer solar leases, many are not originally based out of NJ, having offices and call centers spread across the country. We live in NJ and we work in NJ – NJ is our home and we are proud to be able to help make it a more environmentally friendly state!
Our team is comprised of our employees. Often, companies hire subcontractors to complete installations. At Independent Solar, every person you meet with, speak with and have at your house during the installation is one of our employees. We are extremely proud of our team and their strong skillsets in engineering, business, aesthetic design & craftsmanship along with customer service.
Profit is not our #1 goal. Independent Solar embraces the triple-bottom-line approach to business: people, planet, profit. We present free educational seminars at local libraries to help educate the public, we support the national economy by purchasing and installing American made materials, and we always communicate with our homeowners as they progress towards turning their solar PV system on for the first time! We also work with and have taught several big players in the NJ market, from NJCEP to utilities to local townships in an effort to help strengthen and streamline the solar installation process. Every decision and action we make is with multiple stakeholders in mind.
We partner with industry leaders to reduce costs and broaden options, but do not engage in exclusive relationships. Independent Solar likes to form mutually beneficial relationships with an overarching goal of strengthening the solar industry. One of our most recent partnerships is with NRG, a multi-billion dollar, Fortune 300 and S&P 500 energy company based in Princeton. It is because of this partnership with NRG that we are able to offer NJ homeowners solar leases; and we feel this partnership is the best of both worlds, as we’re a local company, backed by the, huge multi-billion dollar NRG. Furthermore, while some installers engage in exclusive relationships (ie: they have to use certain materials that may not be the best fit for your home’s unique characteristics) we do not. We guarantee that we will design and install a solar PV system that is the best for you!
